The Bad
The Ugly-
Our guide Dimitri told us early in the tour to look inside the open door and take the road less traveled you will never know what you might find. It might be something fun, such as when I found a fountain in a courtyard in Volterra. This time, not so much. Here, at what seems to be the end of town, we headed up the road pausing over and over again to witness the destruction by nature. Dimitri told us the best way we can help Vernazza is to visit, to shop, and to enjoy the people. I know we did and we will return, as will our friends.
In the slide show to the right you see what we saw. It takes ones breath away to try to imagine what these folks lived through. It wasn't until I got home, as I looked at my photos, that I realized the photo I mentioned above shows the same home of which someone took a photo two years earlier. It really hits home the terror of that event through which the people lived.
